A deliberately boring clicker that turned into a jab at the dark patterns of the modern web.
Untickable started because I was bored and wanted to build a deliberately boring clicker. It ended up surprisingly addictive, enough to get a few friends stuck in a loop, and along the way it became a small statement about the state of the internet. It was one of my first attempts at game design.
The whole game is a single checkbox you can never quite tick, labelled with the sort of guilt-tripping opt outs the web is full of, from 'No, I don't want to save 20%' to 'Confirm unsubscription', while a Frustration counter climbs and the shop only ever makes it harder. It is a jab at dark patterns and the way the modern web is built to wear you down, wrapped up as a silly clicker. Building it in plain JavaScript was also my first real lesson in how much a game can say through the way it feels to play.
