My first published npm package: a portable, fully controlled color picker component for React.
react-piqua-color is a portable, fully controlled color picker component for React, and my first package actually published on npm. It renders a saturation and value square, a hue bar, and labelled sliders for hex, rgb, hsl, and cmyk, styles itself through CSS custom properties, and ships with zero runtime dependencies.
It started inside Documinter. I was not satisfied with the color pickers I could find, and building my own felt like a good exercise, so I wrote one from scratch for the app.
Later, when I added custom colorable components to Campaigns of the Mist, I needed a color picker again. Rather than copy the code from one project to the other, I pulled it out and turned it into a proper standalone package, my first one published on npm. It stays fully controlled, carries no runtime dependencies, and keeps all of its styling in CSS custom properties, so it drops into any React app without pulling in a framework.
