A terminal style game where you are a data forensic agent, racing to extract a mainframe's secrets while the system hunts you down.

Overview

Into the Corridor is a terminal style game. You play a data forensic agent trying to pull important data off a mainframe, but the system is trying to trace you the whole time. You fight back by finding and killing the hostile processes hiding in the list and closing the rogue connections they open, all before the trace catches up or the extraction finishes.

Why it exists

It started as a game setting. I had an idea for a world that I suddenly needed to get out of my head and onto paper, and the most vivid piece of it was a minigame that played out exactly like this. So I built it as a proof of concept, a way to see the idea running rather than just describe it.

Under the hood

Under the terminal runs a live simulation: processes and connections come and go, the trace climbs whenever a hostile is loose, and the hostiles hide in plain sight as near perfect typos of real system processes, so finding them is the real challenge. Sound does a lot of the work, running throughout to carry the tension. It is built with React and Vite.

Where it stands

This one is not a consumer app or a tool, it is a game, plain and simple, and that is exactly what I wanted it to be. It is a prototype, but one I genuinely like and am proud of.
